FAQs

Getting Started

What information do I need to order a monument?
You will typically need the cemetery name, grave location (section, lot, grave), the names and dates to be engraved, and any design preferences such as style, granite color, and inscription wording.

Do I need cemetery approval before ordering?
Most cemeteries have monument regulations (size, material, finish, and installation requirements). We confirm these requirements with the cemetery before production to ensure your monument complies.

Can I order a monument in advance (pre-need)?
Yes. Many families choose to pre-order to plan ahead, reserve space for future lettering, and reduce decision-making during a difficult time.

Types of Monuments

What is the difference between a flat marker and an upright monument?
A flat marker sits level with the ground (or slightly raised, depending on cemetery rules). An upright monument stands vertically and is typically more visible.

What sizes are available?
Sizes depend on the cemetery’s regulations and the type of monument selected. We will recommend options that meet cemetery requirements and fit your inscription needs.

Can additional names be added later?
In many cases, yes. If you anticipate future lettering, we can help design the monument with space reserved for later engraving, subject to cemetery rules and available space

Materials and Finish

What materials are most common?
Granite is the most common choice due to its durability and long-term performance outdoors. Other options, such as bronze, may be available depending on cemetery rules.

Will the stone look exactly like the sample?
Natural stone has unique patterns and variations, so no two pieces are identical. We select stone carefully and review design proofs with you before production.

Design and Customization

What can be customized?
Common customizations include shape, granite color, lettering style, inscriptions, artwork, religious symbols, portraits, and accessories such as vases and lanturns.

Can you help with inscription wording?
Yes. We can provide suggestions and help you choose wording that fits the available space and reflects the message you want to share.

Will I receive a design proof before engraving?
Yes. We provide a design proof for approval to confirm spelling, dates, layout, and artwork placement before production begins.

Pricing and Payments

What determines the cost of a monument?
Cost is based on monument type, size, engraving style and complexity, artwork and personalization.

What is included in the quoted price?
Quotes typically include artwork, design, engraving, and the monument delivery and installation. Foundation and cemetery fees may be separate depending on cemetery requirements. We will itemize all costs clearly.

Do you require a deposit?
Most orders require a deposit to begin production, with the remaining balance due prior to installation. Payment options vary by order.

Timeline and Installation

How long does production take?
Timelines vary based on the selected design, granite availability, and cemetery scheduling. We provide an estimated timeline after the design is finalized and approved.

Who installs the monument?
Installation is completed by our well-trained professionals, following cemetery regulations for foundation and placement. (Depending on cemetery regulations)

What is a foundation and why is it needed?
A foundation helps support the monument and reduce shifting over time. Foundation requirements vary by cemetery and monument type.

Care and Warranty

How do I clean and maintain the monument?
We recommend gentle cleaning methods, typically water and a soft brush. Avoid harsh chemicals unless advised, as they may damage the surface.

Do you offer a warranty?
We guarantee replacement of any granite part of the memorial that should crack, discolour, or prove defective in any way attributable to the granite or workmanship

Changes and Corrections

Can I make changes after approving the proof?
Changes may be possible depending on production stage. If changes are requested after approval, additional fees and timeline changes may apply.

What if there is a spelling or date error?
Please contact us immediately. We will review the approved proof and work with you to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
